Awards and Recognition
PT-60 Mobile Computer Receives Taiwan Excellence Award
Argox is pleased to announce that our PT-60 mobile computer has received the 2010 Taiwan Excellence Award, the highest accolade presented to Taiwan products. The PT-60 can now display Taiwan’s Symbol of Excellence (SOE), which has been awarded since 1992 to encourage local industries to incorporate innovation and value into their products.

The PT-60’s award-winning features include long battery life and the lowest power consumption among same-class mobile computers in the AIDC industry. For back-up power source the PT-60 uses an advanced high-density capacitor (Super-Cap) instead of a traditional button battery or Ni-MH battery, eliminating battery replacement and pollution issues. The PT-60 enclosure is light and durable, meeting IP54 industrial standards. An economical hardware platform offering basic features, the PT-60 easily meets requirements for fast and accurate data capture for reasonable cost.

To receive the Taiwan Excellence Award, the PT-60 was judged on criteria that included R&D, Design, Quality, and Marketing. This award represents Taiwan’s commitment to innovative products of the highest quality. The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) has registered exclusive rights for the SOE symbol in over 90 countries. With a reliable and long-lasting battery pack, highly reliable keyboard, and Argox’s own CCD scan engine, the PT-60 delivers world-class quality and outstanding performance for a broad range of data collection applications.
Product Spotlight
The AS-9500 2D Scanner
The Argox AS-9500 2D Scanner reads all popular 1D and 2D barcodes, postal codes, OCR and it also captures images. This high resolution scanner’s optical system is equipped with a 752 x 480 CMOS sensor, which offers a print contrast signal (PCS) of 30% or greater. The AS-9500 scans in all environments including sunlight as bright as 100,000 Lux.

The trend for 2D scanners is growing quickly due to the increased adoption of direct part marking (DPM) and image capture requirements. Applications such as automotive, aerospace and electronics are using DPM to permanently mark parts with a barcode, often with Data Matrix or QR Code. The AS-9500 reads DPM the same as it would paper media; however you may need to adjust the lighting if there are reflections off of metal or glass surfaces. The AS-9500 is also ideal for comparing signatures or documents and other image capture applications such as used in government or logistics.

The AS-9500 is suitable for general purpose applications such as public service, health care, light industry and logistics. Just a few of its applications include: retail bulk or heavy item checkout; document handling such as tax returns and drivers licenses; industry production line tracking and shop floor data capture; healthcare patient identification and pharmaceutical inventory tracking; and logistics shipping and receiving.
