Asia's 1st

Argox has become the first and only comprehensive AIDC supplier in Asia. Argox is only the second supplier in the world to offer a complete AIDC solution. This new Argox milestone is built on a solid base of performance, quality, service and support.

Argox now covers the full range of AIDC products, from the input of our AS-series barcode scanners to the output of our OS-, A-, R-, X-, and G-series barcode printers. With the addition of our new PT-series portable data terminals, we now offer system products, which elevates Argox to "Asia's 1st comprehensive AIDC solution provider."

Argox has offered barcode label printers since 1996, when we launched our original cost / performance leader, the OS-series. For the input side of the equation, Argox launched the AS-series barcode scanner in 2000. Our OEM products have carried the labels of many famous brand names giving Argox proven quality credentials. Continuous investment in R&D has resulted in our first portable data terminal, the PT-series. In October and November, Argox introduced the cost-effective PT-series at trade shows in Europe, South America, and the United States, and the response from distributors, and end-users has been outstanding.

As Asia's 1st comprehensive AIDC solution provider Argox can now offer the following benefits to our partners: one-stop shopping for all devices needed, solution integration convenience, single window support and service, and lower logistic costs. Argox expects even stronger growth in 2004 having achieved our total solution capability.

The PT-Series

  • Argox introduces two new portable data terminals (PDT), the PT-10 and PT-12. With these two new data collection system products, Argox becomes Asias first comprehensive AIDC supplier, able to provide bar code input, output, and system solutions.

  • The PT-10 and PT-12 are powerful handheld data capture tools based on bar code scanning technology. The PDTs allow you to collect bar code data from remote locations and store the data until you upload it to a computer system for analysis. The Argox PDTs are ideal for data management and can increase accuracy anywhere in the supply chain. Applications include inventory control at warehouses, supermarkets, restaurants, and hospitals.

  • The PT-10 is powered using two AA alkaline batteries. The PT-12 is powered with rechargeable batteries, and comes with a charging cradle and rechargeable battery pack. Both models come with an RS-232 cable for uploading data.

  • The PT-10 and PT-12 are bundled with ArgoBuilder software for developing custom data collection applications. ArgoBuilder is a simulator-based editor package that is as easy-to-use as Frontpage 2000—no need for Visual Basic, or Visual C. The software is user-friendly, multi-language, and available for all Windows environments.

  • Cost-effective and lightweight, the pocket-sized PT-10 and PT-12 portable data terminals increase the speed and accuracy of data entry for the mobile workforce.
Training Conference
  • Johannesburg, South Africa and Sao Paulo, Brazil

In early December Argox is holding technical training conferences for distributors and integrators in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
  • Argox continues to update distributors and system integrators on the maintenance and support of our products. In early December Argox sent a team of field application engineers to conduct training conferences in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Courses covered included: 1) troubleshooting software, firmware, and hardware; 2) maintenance of hardware; 3) new product applications. Those who attend the conferences will take qualifying tests at the end of each course. At the end of each conference Argox will present certificates of course completion and awards. The training conferences are a continuing effort on the part of Argox to provide customer service and support from distributor to end-user.

Trade Fair Reviews
  • Invex, Brno, Czech Republic

  • The Invex trade fair was held in Brno, Czech Republic, October 6~10, and featured information and communication technology. It was the first time Argox has exhibited in Eastern Europe. Argox appreciated the chance to meet potential distributors, dealers, and end-users. Our goals for the show were to get a first hand look at the market, to raise awareness of Argox products, and to begin to develop an Eastern Europe customer base.

  • We displayed our entire line of products. Attracting the most attention were our AS-8150 scanner, the X-1000+ and X-2000+ series barcode printers, and our portable data terminals (PDT). Favorable comments were made on the AS-8150 scanner’s rapid decoding speed and extended reading distance. The printing speed and cost effectiveness of the X-1000+ and X-2000+ also received a positive response. The competitive features and prices of our line of PDTs caused a stir and the inquiries we received point to a solid opportunity in this market.

  • The Invex trade fair gives us the impression that Eastern Europe is an emerging market that holds much promise for barcode products. Argox plans to return next year to follow the development of this growing market.
  • Frontline, Chicago

  • The Frontline show in Chicago gave us the opportunity to generate awareness for our products and develop new business for the future.

  • This was the fourth year Argox participated in the Frontline ISCW show, which was held September 16~18 in Chicago. Attendance was not as strong as in the past, but Argox welcomed the opportunity to display our entire product line and show the excellent quality and performance of our products. Our focus for the exhibition was on the Amigo barcode printers and AS-series scanners. We demonstrated their plug & play benefits and minimal requirements for service and support. The Frontline show gave us the chance to exchange views with friends in the industry, generate awareness of our products, and develop potential business for the future.
Retail Applications of the AS-8150 Scanner
  • Retailers all over the world are incorporating barcode scanners into their retail checkout operation. The Argox AS-8150 Long Range Imager is particularly successful and well-suited for this application. The following describes how a new EPOS system uses the AS-8150 as both a hands-free and a handheld scanner at the checkout counter.

  • Equipment: AS-8150 Long Range Imager
    Interface: Serial Interface
Accessories: Hand-free Stand, Serial Interface Cable
Location: Chain-store or Supermarket Checkout Counter

  • Checkout counters in supermarkets and chain stores are best described as a place where:

    1. the cashier is always busy, without a hand to spare for using a handheld scanner; and,
    2. the customer always thinks the checkout operation is not fast enough!

  • To improve this situation, system integrators are looking for scanning solutions which are:

    1. reasonable on the cost side;
    2. effective on the performance side; and
    3. flexible for use in multiple applications.

      • One famous European system supplier has selected the AS-8150 Long Range Imager as the standard scanning device they attach to their newly launched EPOS system. The AS-8150 was selected from more than 10 different devices including world famous brands. It demonstrated the following advantages:

        • Cost Savings

The AS-8150 is marketed at a price level lower than other general purpose long range linear imagers. The result is substantial cost savings on the user side.

        • Performance Advantages

Designed with advanced image processing technologies plus state-of-the-art optics, the AS-8150 captures barcode images at a speed of 200 scans per second. A rapid decoding algorithm provides quick, accurate data to the EPOS system to effectively shorten customer waiting time in the checkout line.

        • Flexibility

The AS-8150 is flexible for use as either a hand-free or a handheld scanner:

          – Hand-free Fixed Scanner:

          • Working with an optional hand-free stand, the AS-8150 can be set for "Continuous Mode" to effectively capture any barcode label passing by. This allows the cashier to serve customers using both hands for maximum customer throughput at the checkout counter.

          Handheld Scanner:

          • For heavy items the cashier just pulls out the AS-8150 from its hand-free stand and reaches over to scan items directly in the shopping cart.

Most supermarkets install one flat-bed scanner and one handheld scanner at each checkout station. The AS-8150 can cover this same application at a fraction of the cost, with the installation of only one AS-8150 scanner and one hand-free stand.

      • This application has proven successful in many countries, and is available through Argox's distribution and OEM channels. For further details, please contact your local Argox agent.
