Putting on a Show! |

|
| It's a tradition before the Chinese New Year for companies in Taiwan to hold a year end dinner to thank employees, customers and suppliers. Every year Argox holds its year end dinner at a different location. This year the dinner was held in a big field behind the company's factory. A stage was setup for entertainment and dinner was catered for about 25 tables.
The year end party began with an impressive fireworks exhibition that lasted for a full 3 minutes. The fireworks were contracted with the same company that managed the fantastic New Year's fireworks show at Taipei 101, the world's tallest building. Needless to say everyone was delighted with this party kick off. There were more fireworks during the evening, a 30 second display to welcome the new CEO, and then 30 seconds of fireworks for the closing ceremony.
Last year's party featured a company talent contest. It was so much fun that this year Argox continued the tradition, and there was serious competition! The seven volunteer performing groups provided some amazing entertainment - singing, dancing, magic, and comedy. At the end of the show, the acts were evaluated and cash prizes were given to the top three performing groups.
First place went to a group of five colleagues from the manufacturing department who performed fire acrobatics. They had asked for the help of a professional coach and practiced late every evening for over a month. It's dangerous to play with fire, and during the performance four fire extinguishers were standing by just in case. Luckily other than singed hair and a few minor burns, no one was seriously injured. Their performance was as impressive as polished professionals. Second place went to the R&D department's dance act where everyone was wearing dresses. Last to dance out onto the stage was Mr. Chen, head of the department and a company founder, who looked pretty hot in black skirt and stockings. Third place went to a performance of a traditional Taiwanese puppet show, but with real people! Puppet shows are a popular form of entertainment in Taiwan, so seeing real people imitating well-known characters was quite a treat.
During the dinner a drawing was held with prizes including large screen TVs and cash. Argox management contributed the equivalent of US$10,000 for the drawing, and the largest prize drawn was for about US$3,000. Everyone enjoyed this year's dinner, and just as last year they wonder: How are we going to top this next year?
