Argox Summer Games |
| On a fine summer day in late August, Argox held a special event to thank employees and their families for their efforts and support. It was day of games, another in a series of events celebrating Argox's 10th Anniversary since the founding of the company. The day was sunny and clear as the games began with opening remarks from the bandstand. Prior to the event, Argox employees and families were divided into four teams that would compete for cash and prizes. The teams were blue, orange, purple, and green.
The first event was a team review from the bandstand, where each team paraded in costume and performed for the judges. The orange team was dressed as pirates and waved swords as they shouted "Kill, kill, kill!" The blue team was lead by Superman, and each super-person had a yellow "S" on their blue t-shirt. The green team was dressed as Hula-girls--even the guys--and led a cheer in formation. And the purple team paraded as Aces pushing a large birthday cake to the front of the bandstand. As you might guess, a girl popped out of the cake and led everyone in a round of Happy Birthday to Argox. Next, balloons were released into the sky, and the Argox flag was raised, signaling the start of the event.
After this colorful beginning, a relay race kicked off the games. And what were the batons? Scanners of course! During the morning, the four teams competed in dodge ball, tug-of-war, and a version of a 3-legged race where five team members are bound together at once. In the afternoon, special games were held such as: tumbler shove, dizzy basketball toss, team jump rope, and obstacle course. The final event was a 4km mini-marathon. Spirits were high and the competition exciting as the games were won and lost. The judges kept track of points for each team as the event progressed.
After the final run, everyone gathered at the bandstand as points were tallied. There were cheers as the award ceremony presented victory cups and prize money to the winners. When the day of games finally ended, the Argox flag was lowered and employees and their families headed home--tired, but with plenty of new stories to tell.
