Argox Expands... |
| Argox has recently moved into a new manufacturing facility that doubles the company's production and logistics space. The new facility increases work flow efficiency by putting the assembly lines and warehouse together on one floor. The work force on the three assembly lines is 30% larger than before, yet production capacity has effectively doubled. The additional warehouse space also allows for a larger inventory and will shorten delivery lead times. The new factory is expected to save costs and improve competitiveness. Argox is converting the previous factory space into new offices and a recreation area. |

A new limited edition wine with an especially fragrant bouquet has splashed onto the scene: Argox Vineyards. Made from selected Australian Shiraz grapes, the wine was chosen for bottling under the Argox Vineyards label by an expert panel of bon vivants and restaurateurs. Each customer who visits the Argox office and our new factory in Taiwan will receive a complimentary bottle of Argox Vineyards, while supplies last.

Argox Road Show, New Delhi & Mumbai, India |
| In early May, Argox brought its first India road show to the cities of New Delhi and Mumbai. Our objectives were to conduct training and education on the use of our products, to listen to distributor feedback, and to discuss sales and marketing. The road show also helped Argox better understand our customers' technical capabilities, learn about market conditions in India, and suggest products that are relevant to the local market.
The director of Argox sales and a field application engineer conducted classes for several distributors in each city. One distributor gathered dealers from cities around the nation to participate in the classes. There were many questions on system integration for a variety of applications and Argox enjoyed the opportunity to answer in-person.
Argox found that the technical level in India is excellent. We are excited that skills there are at such a high level and we are confident that after-sales service and maintenance are in good hands. Argox is encouraged by the results of our road show, and the positive customer feedback we received. We look forward to returning to India soon to further support our distributors and dealers.

This is Argox's second year at the show and our goal is to increase market communication and demonstrate that the Argox brand stands for excellent quality as well as a great price. Our emphasis this year will be on scanners and data collection devices for retail applications. We are looking to see which of our products are most suitable for the Australian market. Increasing market share is our objective and we hope to talk with some large distributors or system integrators that can help us expand in this market. If you are in Sydney for the show, please stop by and say hello. |

The Story of Argox (part 10) |
| Argox's recent expansion into a new factory recalls the company's previous moves. In 1998 the company relocated from the small apartment where it started up to its first factory. Moving was easy; the five partners just boxed everything up and threw it in their cars. The first factory was small, only 120 square meters, with a small assembly line that needed only two operators to produce up to 300 printers per month. The factory manager was partner Tom Wei, today's CEO.
Over the next two years, business quickly outgrew production space. In 2000, Argox made its second move to a facility three times as large. While everyone was happy to leave the cramped first factory, moving was complicated by the addition of two assembly lines, furniture, and warehouse inventory and equipment.
The relocation was tough, since no one had any experience in moving a factory. Added to that, the summer of 2000 was a hot one, and since the second facility had just been built, there was no electricity. The first week at the new factory there was no air conditioning, no lights, no water, and no elevator. Everyone had to climb seven flights of stairs to get to work. When the electricity came on everyone was happy, as the new facility offered a nice working environment with a garden path, a bar, and a meeting room that could also show films. The first move was to satisfy business growth, while the second move was to provide a friendlier working environment. Over the next few years space once again became a premium, which resulted in the third most recent move described above.
