Bringing in the Year of the Rooster
Argox sales revenues grow 48% year-on-year

Last year Argox saw a significant increase in sales revenue. For 2005, the Year of the Rooster,
we look forward to continued
growth in sales and other good things. Chinese astrologers say the Year of the Rooster is a time for creativity, and for Argox it promises to be a good year for R&D and innovative new products. Businesses that pay attention to the smallest details are likely to achieve remarkable results in 2005. The rooster is a cooperative bird, which is why 2005 will be a lucky year for business contracts, joint ventures, and new partnerships.

New Product - the Amigo A-50

The Amigo A-50 is the newest in Argox's line of compact, low-maintenance, and cost-effective barcode printers. The A-50 is a direct-thermal printer that provides user-friendly media management that requires no special training. To reload, just drop in the paper.

The A-50 comes in stylish "IBM black" to complement any office or retail environment. Its compact design makes the printer ideal for retail outlets, business and professional offices, and all types of logistics applications.

The A-50 is our best value/performance barcode printer. Using a durable print head structure, the A-50 offers a print speed of 3 ips. The printer accepts large capacity 5-inch OD media rolls and its centralized ribbon sensor and printing alignment can handle media widths from 1-inch to 4-inches and lengths of up to 8-inches. This mechanism also prevents ribbon wrinkle, allows thicker media, and adds flexibility for applications such as label, tag, or banner printing. A see-through window also lets you check whether you
need to replace the media roll.

Options include an easy-to-install label dispenser and cutter, Ethernet connectivity for network applications, and a network print server.

The A-50's plug & play installation requires no programming, and
with fewer moving parts the printer has minimal support requirements.
Versatile and easy-to-use, the Amigo A-50 direct-thermal barcode printer provides best value and performance.

The Story of Argox (part 5)

There were other events in the early days of Argox that give some insight into the company. Here are some good stories.

In 1997, one of the company's founders, Carlson Tao, was in charge of
marketing and was attending his first Frontline exhibition. On a bus going to the trade fair venue, he struck up a conversation with the gentlemen sitting next to him. They had a pleasant chat and Carlson held on to his new friend's business card. After returning to Taiwan, Carlson stayed in contact and eventually the gentleman became Argox's distributor in Singapore. From a friendly conversation on a bus, a business partnership began.

The inventor of the light bulb, Thomas Edison, was noted for being absentminded while mulling over a problem, and was once seen boiling his pocket-watch while holding an egg. Two of Argox's founders are engineers who are known to possess some of Edison's qualities. Once, Carlson arranged for one of the Argox engineers to take an important foreign customer to Restaurant A. However in true Edison fashion, the engineer mistakenly took the customer to Restaurant B. Tired of waiting for Carlson, who was at the prearranged restaurant, the engineer and customer went ahead and ordered dinner. After the meal the engineer realized he had forgotten his wallet, so to pay for dinner he had to borrow money from the customer. Fortunately, Carlson had previously mentioned this absentminded-yet-very-talented engineer, and the customer had a good sense of humor. He could see that this must indeed be a very talented engineer.

Argox's other talented engineer also had an opportunity to entertain an important customer. At the time the company was still operating from a small apartment and everyone was anxious to make a good impression. With Carlson on a business call, the engineer was left to greet the customer. When Carlson returned, the customer was waiting, but the engineer was nowhere to be found. They soon discovered that the engineer had an attack of nerves and was hiding in the restroom. The moral of the story is that Argox is very serious about our customer's business, even if sometimes we get a little nervous.

Stories such as these say a lot. Friendship, sincerity, respect for customers, and a sense of humor are all qualities we value at Argox.
